What happens in the event of my death? Can I name a Beneficiary?

What happens to a GoldSilver account when the account holder passes away?

GoldSilver does not offer on-platform beneficiary designations, but it does administer accounts after a holder's passing. The process depends on the account type, and all cases require supporting documentation reviewed by GoldSilver's legal department.

  • For individual accounts: accounts will default to the estate and will accept instructions from the executor.

  • Joint accounts: accounts will default to the surviving owner according to the type of joint account chosen:

    • The surviving account holder (Joint WROS)
In a Joint WROS account, the surviving account holder inherits all assets in the account when the other holder passes. This is the most common joint account type.
    • My estate (Joint TIC)
With a joint tenants in common account (Joint TIC) the estate of the deceased will receive their portion of their account.
  • For entities such as corporations or LLCs: accounts will follow instructions from the executor.

  • IRA accounts: GoldSilver will send the funds to the IRA custodian. Beneficiaries can be established through your IRA.

What documentation is required?

Required documentation varies by account type but generally includes:

  • A valid government-issued photo ID (for the executor or surviving joint account member).
  • A certified death certificate.
  • Executor of estate documentation (e.g., Letters Testamentary).

All submitted documentation is reviewed by GoldSilver's legal department.

Additional documentation may be required depending on the specifics of the account and estate.

If you have additional questions about your specific situation, please contact the GoldSilver support team by phone to discuss your account.
