Withdrawing Funds: Methods & Requirements

Non-IRA account holders can withdraw any portion of their available balance at any time directly through the GoldSilver platform. IRA account withdrawals must be processed through your IRA custodian — see the IRA Account Withdrawals section below.

How to Request a Withdrawal

  1. Log into your account
  2. Navigate to Account > Balances/Activity
  3. Select Withdrawal
  4. Choose your withdrawal method

Withdrawal Methods

Bank wire – $25 fee

  • Fastest option: Funds typically arrive within 24 business hours
  • Setup requirement: New bank accounts require a 48-hour activation period after wire instructions are added

Check – Free

  • No fee: Mailed to any verified address via standard mail
  • Processing time: Checks are processed once per week and typically arrive in 5-10 business days

Important: AML Withdrawal Requirements

To comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, withdrawals must be returned using the same method and to the same bank account used for the original deposit.

This means:

How You Funded How You Must Withdraw
Check Check or wire
ACH or Wire Transfer Wire to the same bank account
Multiple bank accounts on fileMust return to the specific bank account used for the deposit

Key rules:

  • Funds must be returned to the same bank account used for the original deposit. If that bank account has since been closed, please provide proof of closure when contacting support.
  • The bank account must be held in the same name as your GoldSilver account.
  • These requirements ensure compliance with federal Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.

If you have questions about which withdrawal method applies to your account, contact our support team.

IRA Account Withdrawals

For IRA accounts, withdrawals must be processed directly through your IRA custodian — not through the GoldSilver platform. Tax and penalty considerations: Depending on your IRA type (Traditional or Roth) and your age, withdrawals may be subject to income taxes and/or early withdrawal penalties. Penalties typically apply to distributions taken before age 59½. To initiate a withdrawal, contact your IRA custodian directly. If you're unsure who your custodian is, contact GoldSilver support and we'll help you find out.
